801: 10 Fitness Secrets Every Busy Parent Needs to Know

TMHS 111: Changing Your Self-Image Leadership & the ABC’s of Success with Bob Proctor

Your life is like a wheel.

There are so many different components that come together to create your own personal “circle of life” (cue the Lion King Music!).

These components are: Your health – your family and relationships – your career/work or mission – your finances – and your spiritual health and contribution.

Life is not complete without the growth and development in all of these areas. The problem is, we are usually very off balance in one or the other based on where we are in our life.

Your body might be banging, but your finances are in the toilet. You might have awesome relationships, but you’re simultaneously struggling in your career. So, you see, your “circle of life” (your wheel) is usually pretty jagged and bumpy because of some parts being up and some parts being down… and this is what leads to a very bumpy ride in life.

The truth is, life will have its ups and downs, but there can be a lot more smooth sailing if you’re able to grow gracefully and consistently in all areas. The question really is: How do you do it? And today, I have the perfect person to show you exactly how it’s done.

Many years ago I was sitting with my then girlfriend (now my wife… yep, I scored!) and we were watching this film that my amazing mother-in-law said we HAVE to watch…

I honestly wasn’t very interested in watching it… I had so much going on with trying to figure out how to structure my client’s programs and even how I was going to pay my rent.

We clicked play, and something unexpected happened.

A man named Bob Proctor came on the screen with this confidence, grace, and sense of knowing that I’d never seen before. I hung on his every word, and whatever this man had figured out, I wanted to know it too!

The film broke down the hidden, but extremely real world of quantum mechanics. Not in a, “you’d better put on your pocket protector way”, but in a real world “I get this” way that made me realize something profound.

I realized in that moment what I had always known intuitively my entire life… That I matter. That I’m special. That I’m here to share the unique gifts that I have. That I am influencing the world around me (for the good and the not-so-good) based on the predominant thoughts that I’m carrying around in my mind.

Bob told me that day, “If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand.”

The science in the film really spoke to my man-brain. The message in the film really spoke to my heart.

Today I’m beyond honored to say that I have Bob Proctor on my show to be able to share him with you. In my mind, him connecting with me is a result of hard work and effort. In my heart, him connecting with me is a result of how powerful we all our to attract into our life the people, things, and resources we need to make the life we want a reality. Buckle in tight, because this is powerful!

In this episode you’ll discover:

  • Why your results in life depend on your “inner game”.
  • What book transformed Bob’s life over 50 years ago that he still reads today.
  • Why you can never truly enjoy something without sharing it.
  • How financial health impacts your health overall.
  • How contribution can radically improve your finances (it worked for me too!)
  • The most important and useful skill that’s not being taught in schools today.
  • Why kids are able to learn so much more than they are often given credit for.
  • Why you need to get straight A’s WAY after your schooling days are over.
  • What acceptance REALLY means and why it’s so powerful in your life.
  • Why listening is a critical skill for success (and why many of us are doing it wrong!)
  • How every-single-person is a leader in one way or another.
  • Why improving your leadership capacity is so important.
  • Whether or not someone is a “producer” or an “almost”.
  • How your self-image is actually formed.
  • What you must do to transform your self-image.
  • Why you should NEVER try to lose weight again (this is powerful!)
  • What your #1 driving force really is (whether you realize it or not!)
  • Why most people are programmed NOT to have longevity and what you can do to change that.

  1. Just listened to this episode and E.T episode back to back. Amazing content as always!!

  2. Hi there Shawn,
Great talk with Mr. Bob Proctor…been following him since The Secret movie some 3 years ago and more often 6 months ago via twitter and the like…even working with one of the affirmations he once said he uses himself for money…
Financially struggling still , but as a Canadian friend of mine once posted, “you can’t be ugly and broke at the same time, pick a struggle” well said…I am fitter than ever before ..LOL…and so just to say that this was a great interview and I find that it really energizes and gathers the key concepts that B.P. always refers too…
I am also a big fan of fitness and nutrition and as you well pointed it out, there’s also the financial health…
Many things to add to these topics, but in short , great interview, is the one of BP that I have enjoyed the most and you are being listened to and watched in Uruguay as well !!… (a tiny country in South America)…It would be so good for Latin America and its Spanish speaking countries to have these wonderful speakers and teachers in Spanish and with this easy access to information.
Best regards from the South 😉

  3. Great guest! What a wonderful man. I just bought “Think and Grow Rich” on my kindle. Funny enough that I read that book when I was 18/19 years old. I am now 38 years old. I’m learning that having a purpose and mission in life is so much more helpful when starting to read gems like this book. 3 months ago I finished “7 Habits of Highly Effected People” and it has changed my life. That was another book I read in my late teens. Shawn, your book “Sleeping Smarter” as I said in other comments has been my SECRET SAUCE! Perfect timing! I am follower of your podcast. Great job!! Jade, love your questions 🙂 Bob, thank you for reminding the world that we were meant for greatness!

  5. I LOVED this episode. I cannot count how many times I’ve listened to it. This is the first time I’ve heard of Bob and now, I am hooked. Thank you, Shawn, for this podcast…the best one out there. I am truly motivated to keep pushing and following my dreams.

    1. Tamara, that makes me so happy that I was the bridge for you to connect with Bob. Can’t even begin to tell you the impact his simple principles have had on my life. More great stuff to come!

  6. This was such a powerfull episode! Feeling really motivated and inspired to become a better person and live a better more meaningfull life. Thank you!

  7. Thank you for having MR. PROCTOR on your show. My world was “rocked”. I purchased his book and Napoleon Hill’s book.

I would love to take a class with Mr. Projector.

    1. Frankie, it was totally my honor. Thanks so much for listening! Not sure if you meant to write Mr. Projector, but that sure is a perfect name for him… Someone who helps us to see something better on our mental movie screens 🙂

  8. Dear Shawn and Jade,

Your shows always impact my life – this one will be impacting me for a long time.
There is so much richness and brilliance in this episode with Bob Proctor that I will be listening to it again and again.

I too carry a card with me for so long, that I can’t remember when I wrote the quote (before the internet for sure). It says: “I believe I am divinely guided. I believe I will always take the right turn of the road. I believe God will make a way where there is no way.” and I added “Let go and let God.” The first three sentences are from Norman Vincent Peale’s book The Power of Positive Thinking.

What I have found is that each day has a theme – all of the things I hear, the emails I receive, the blogs and passages in books that I read – all come together to support that theme of the day. It all starts with Awareness and looking beyond the obvious to make the connections to a theme.

As I am creating my blog – Brilliance Inside You – this episode fit right in with today’s theme.

Thank you, thank you, thank you – Shawn, Jade and Bob.

    Be Blessed. Pam Costa

    1. Pam, this is just too wonderful for words. Honored I get to be a part of it all. Thank YOU!

  9. Awesome show. I like your opening music so much I want it for my ringtone. (It makes me feel happy!) Proctor was excellent. I am a college psychology professor and the insights he shared are so on point! Thanks for all you all do to be the model health show!

    1. I hope you know you made my day like 10 times better. Thanks so much for sharing that!
